Federica Matta was born in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, on July 8, 1955. She has traveled to Greece, Italy, Spain, the United States, Africa, Mexico, Guatemala, Switzerland, India, England, Nepal, Peru, Sicily, Chile, Brazil…and elsewhere.

Federica MATTA is one of the founder members of the Tout-Monde Institute created by Edouard Glissant in 2007; she is also "nomadic artist" with M2A2, the Museum from Martinique of the Arts of the Americas.

Creation of 4 big canvas which decorated the tent of the reception of Vinexpo's closing evening "La Fête de la Fleur" at Château Malartic-Lagravière, Bordeaux, France.

"The Memories of Slaveries", artistic intervention in the class of second "Petite Enfance" of the secondary school Charles Baudelaire (Evry, France) within the framework of the awareness programme to the questions of the slaveries and their abolitions led by the Institut du Tout-Monde."Memories of the slaveries" day on May 27th at the Conseil Régional of Ile-de-France where the pupils will show their kakemonos for the first time, Paris, France.
   
2013
World Forum for Democracy, Exhibition of 8 new kakemonos in various places of the City of Strasbourg (Cathedral, City hall), in partnership with the association Passages, Strasbourg, France.
 
"From the Earth to the Moon", festive wandering on the occasion of the 2013 Participiales of Bordeaux and the project of opening the Echoppes district on the Garonne by the end of 2014 within the framework of the urban project Bordeaux [Re] Centres. Launch of the event in Place Dormoy, on June 28th at 9 pm.
 
"The Wisdom of the Earth", exhibition of kakemonos realized by the children of the class "Autrement" (6 °) of the Champdeniers school. The show also presents the original drawings of the leaflet "The Wisdom of the Earth" created for the Conseil Général of the Deux-Sèvres and the participating children, as well as a selection of kakemonos by Federica. Quelques instants plus tard(A few moments later…), collective exhibition gathering 40 duets of artists and comic strip writers together. In this occasion will be exhibited the artworks of Federica Matta and the American comic strip writer, Miles Hyman. From November 23rd till February 3rd, 2013, Musée de la Bande Dessinée, Quai de la Charente, Angoulême, France. Private viewing on November 22nd at 6:30 pm in the presence of Federica Matta.
